Eden Court Theatre which hosts many and varied performances and a cinema is just a few minutes’ walk from the cottage. The location of the cottage is also in the hub of Inverness sporting activities– Squash and Tennis Courts, Bught Park for Shinty and Football, Highland Rugby Club, Squash & Tennis, Inverness Ice Centre and Inverness Leisure Centre are all within easy walking distance.
You can take a short walk to The Caledonian Canal, built by Thomas Telford and join Jacobite Cruises to cruise on nearby Loch Ness and hunt for the famous Loch Ness Monster. The central location of the cottage also allows easy accessibility to Dores beach on the East side of the Loch and Urquhart Castle on its shores on the West side just a short drive away or for the more adventurous there is great walking and cycling around Loch Ness 360. The Cairngorm National Park with Aviemore at its centre is just a 40 min drive, where many outdoor sports and pursuits can be enjoyed. Mountain biking, Skiing/Snowboarding, water sports, fishing, climbing and hill walking are also widely available.
Or why not go slightly further afield, take a day trip to the beautiful Isle of Skye or North West Coast to Ullapool the gateway to the Outer Hebrides and take a day trip to the Summer Isles, or go North to the East Coast and Sutherland Caithness area and take a Tour with Above and Beyond Tours or take in the famous NC500 which starts and finishes from Inverness. Peppered along the Moray coastline are many lovely villages from Lossiemouth to Cullen with sandy beaches from which you may be fortunate enough to sight the famous bluenose dolphins the area is renowned for. Depending on the time of year you might even be able to do some whale-watching. Minke and killer whales both visit these waters and there have been sightings of sperm whales and pilot whales also.
A trip along the Speyside Malt Whisky Trail is recommended – the only one of its kind in the world!
